The error you see:

'gmainv1 failure to allocate ...'

is returned by Molpro when a call to the system to allocate memory 
(malloc) fails, it's not a limit from Molpro. If you have the source 
take a look in src/util/gmainv.c and you will see. So for whatever 
reason your machine failed to allocate the requested memory.
